Blaxland Rural Fire Brigade

We are a volunteer fire brigade of the Rural Fire Service and have been involved in the Blaxland community for over 50 years. Our main purpose is to suppress wildfire and perform hazard reductions for the protection of the community.

However we also get work in storm damages, flood relief and search and rescues. We have had crews over the years sent all around the state as well as interstate for fires and flood relief.

We train twice a month, the 1st Friday night and 2nd Saturday afternoon. We meet once a month for General meetings to discuss issues, problems or new ideas for the direction and constant improvement of our brigade policies and procedures. Also we have weekly maintenance on Wednesday nights from 1845hrs where we check that the trucks are fueled, filled with water and safe to be used operationally.

We are mainly seasonal fire fighters however our brigade very rarely lacks in activity. If the whether isn't right for a fire season we are still busy training, maintaining the sheds and trucks and preparing plans for hazard reductions. We also have stalls at markets and opens days where the public can learn more about us directly.

Our rank structure is from top down operationally is; Captain, Senior Deputy Captain, Deputy Captain, fire fighter. Some of our other positions in the brigade are President, Treasurer, Secretary, Station Officer, Equipment Officer and Community Engagement Officer.
